INDUSTRY YEAR

In my third year at university I undertook a year in industry where I completed two placements in London. My first one in Central London at London Fashion Agency (LFA) in 2019 and my second placement in East London in 2020 at House Of Holland.

My placement at LFA was four months September 2019 - December 2019. LFA is a small PR agency in that prides itself in progressive, honest, forward thinking PR. I worked as the sole LFA intern, working on variety of PR and design tasks. Whilst on placement at LFA I worked across LFA and their sister company PR Dispatch.

TASKS

The PR activities I undertook during my placement at LFA was weekly outreach (emailing and call-rounds) to publications for LFA clients, news coverage, influencer research for client’s to gift, trend research for LFA’s blog and podcast research. On social media I did a lot of networking for events, trade shows, launches, and posts. For example, Estella Bartlett’s launch event for the 2019 collection I networked with the influencers who were invited and attending, and documented the insights, reach and the event afterwards for the client. Alongside my colleague at LFA, I was working on the 2019 Christmas Gift Guides; I was pitching to publications, keeping the data spreadsheet up-to-date by getting the opening, closing, submission deadlines, contacts, and product categories for each publication. Also I redesigned some of the product pages in the gift guide to keep it up-to-date with LFA’s latest products.

The design activities I undertook on placement were creating digital press mock-ups for the client publication coverage (created in Photoshop), gifs for the blog posts, social media and MailChimps, and designing trend mood boards for clients. I worked on the client press kits in InDesign, creating line sheets for the latest collection on Indesign. Creating high resolution cut-outs to use in pitch emails and look books in Photoshop. I created client lending sheets for sending samples out. I updated PR members presentations to the latest brand colours, fonts and newest logo in Indesign. I created flyers for workshops and events.

My second placement was January - June 2020 for House of Holland as the Digital & E-commerce Intern.

TASKS

The activities I undertook on placement at House of Holland involve content development. For example, photographing clothing racks and creating social media posts, designing posts for social media on Photoshop for casting calls and flash sales. I compiled research for influencer gifting and future photoshoot research. I edited imagery and behind the scenes footage after a photoshoot for an eyewear collaboration project with Rankin photography and a Mae Muller music video featuring a full outfit of House of Holland. I wrote copy for the SS20 web descriptions. I did stock take, measuring and sorting clothes ready for sample sales and archiving AW19 runway looks. I composed outfits for press requests. I familiarised myself with the past, present and upcoming seasons of House Of Holland in the warehouse, whilst doing send outs and returns. I researched influencers to gift and created a gifting menu. I worked on a lot of the Instagram stories, creating designs for the YUUL YIE x House of Holland collaborations. I created several MailChimps for the flash sales and during my placement sample trafficked House of Holland products to VIP clients and photoshoots.
